The Delaware Valley
Miata Club began May 6,1990 when 54 cars met at Washington's Crossing
State Park near New Hope, PA. The Club now boasts over 330 Miatas,
making it the largest Miata club in America. We hold a variety
of events throughout the year, averaging around 4-5 events a month,
with the slowest period being the winter months (of course).
We pride ourselves on being a diverse group, and we hold a variety of
club events to meet the interests of our many members. For many years,
we've participated in driving schools at Pocono Raceway, an event the
club looks forward to each August. A number of our members also
participate in autocross, which, for those unfamiliar with autocross,
involves maneuvering a car through cones set up in an empty parking lot.
That's not to say that we're all a bunch of racing fanatics. We are often caravanning to various
scenic areas over beautiful roads, enjoying the weather, the good
company, and the surprised looks from people caught off guard by a
whole line of Miatas cruising by.We've had covered bridge tours, attended hot air balloon festivals,
visited wineries, held tech sessions, carried contestants in the Miss
Delaware Parade and hold accessory installation parties.
But when it comes down to it, the Miata has become almost incidental.
We get together not because we want to drive in a line of the same
kind of cars (although that is a lot of fun...), but because of all
the great people we've met who just happen to own the same kind of car
we do. It's been said that we're a social club first and a car club
second, and it's absolutely true.
